Job Description Summary

The Criminal Justice Program at Chicago State University invites applicants for a position as full-time, temporary, non-tenured lecturer to teach in the criminal justice program. Individuals with expertise in all areas of criminal justice are encouraged to apply. As a full-time employee, the lecturer will teach 12 contact hours classes per semester and keep regular office hours. They will also develop syllabi and course materials; and evaluate student mastery of skills and competencies as required by the learning outcomes.
All faculty positions are governed by the tenets of a collective bargaining agreement. Non-tenure track faculty are hired, evaluated, and retained based on conditions covered in the union contract. This position will be open until filled, and review of applications will begin August 16, 2017. Appointment will take effect August 2014. Initial salary placement is based on educational level and total years of full-time equivalent teaching experience.

Required Education

Master’s degree (PhD preferred) ABD considered in criminal justice or in a closely related academic discipline from a regionally accredited institution.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Candidates must have adequate preparation and skills for university teaching at the undergraduate level and an ability to work effectively with students of various ages and of diverse competences and backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in teaching college courses. An ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population. Strong organizational skills and task completion in a timely manner. Knowledge and experience using instructional technology.
