Job Description Summary

Three tenure track faculty positions at assistant, associate or full professorial ranks. Faculty will teach in a new Master of Science in Nursing degree program. The candidate must have expertise in one of the following teaching areas: Community Health Nursing, Nursing Administration or Nursing Education.

Primary duties include teaching and related activities assigned during 9 month of the year.It is expected that the faculty member engages in teaching, research/creative activities and service.

Teaching:faculty members are expected to teach 8 credit courses per year; develop syllabi and teaching materials related to courses taught; and collaborate with peers in the development of new courses and/or programs. License to practice nursing in the State of Illinois, participate in professional developmental activities, as well engage in assessment activities related to accreditation and program evaluation.

Research: faculty members are expected to engage in research and/or creative activity relevant to nursing which results in submissions and material as works in referred. professional and/or general reasdership publications; submit and receive externally awarded grants; and submit proposals for presentations at academic and professional conference.

Service: Faculty members are expected to serve on committees at the department, college and university, professional and community levels; assume leadership roles over time and as they increase in rank.

Required Education

Earned doctoral degree from an accredited university. Appointment rank will be based on experience.
Meets tenure and/or rank requirements from a discipline within the unit as defined by the collective bargaining unit;
Previous academic experience at a four year college or university: 5 or more years teaching experience as determined by rank criteria;
Previous professional experience related to the discipline: 5 or more years as determined by the discipline and rank criteria; and
Record of scholarly research, creative activity in a discipline as well as receipt of competitive grants or externally awarded funding.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Teaching experience at graduate level
Research agenda with publications in peer-reviewed journals
Demonstrated leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

Earned doctorate in nursing or related field required with previous teaching experience at graduate level, track record of scholarship and grantmanship.
