Job Description Summary

The Criminal Justice Program at Chicago State University is seeking candidates for a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. Applicants with specializations in all areas of criminal justice and related disciplines are encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will be prepared to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses. Appointment will take effect August 2017 or May 2018.
Responsibilities for this position include teaching 12 contact hours of courses per semester, participating in the departmental learning assessment effort, participating in departmental governance, and contributing to departmental service and outreach. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a vigorous research program and pursue external support.

Required Education

Terminal Degree (Ph.D. preferred) in criminal justice, criminology, sociology or in a closely related academic discipline. Degree must be from a regionally accredited University

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

We seek a scholar committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service from a criminology perspective. The successful candidate should also be able to work effectively with students of various ages and of diverse competences and backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

Specializations are open, with teaching assignments determined by faculty interest and program need. We seek a colleague who can aid the program in effectively linking criminal justice scholarship with teaching and service in ways that advance social & economic justice.

The successful candidate must be willing and able to teach in both the day and evening programs as curricular and student needs require. Applicants should fully describe their qualifications and experience with specific reference to each of the required and preferred qualifications.
