Job Summary

The Dean of Chicago State University College of Pharmacy (CSU-COP) is the chief academic officer responsible for the implementation of all academic and clinical programs. The Dean establishes short- and long-range goals, objectives, plans, and policies. The Dean reports to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs.

Job Description

1. Provide leadership, direction, and overall administration for the development, coordination, and implementation of programs, activities, and professional services.

2. Formulate, initiate, implement, and interpret policies relating to the operation of the units.

3. Establish goals and objectives for the units reporting to the Dean’s Office.

4. Responsible for planning, evaluation, staffing, and resource allocation for all units reporting to the Dean’s Office.

5. Communicate with and serve as a resource to colleges, departments, campus offices, community organizations, regarding services and issues.

6. Serve on committees as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Must hold an earned doctorate (Pharm.D. or Ph.D.)
Should have a minimum of five years of full-time university teaching and progressive administrative experience;

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Professional Accreditation
Experience with Development and Fundraising
Experience with Knowledge of Pharmaceutical Science and Clinical Education
Experience with Postgraduate education
Experience and knowledge of continuing pharmacy education
Experience with Pharmaceutical research

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Must be well-versed in contemporary pharmacy practice;
• Must have experience in personnel management of both faculty and staff employees;
• Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills;
• Must be well-organized, disciplined and possess analytical skills;
• Must have experience in academic curriculum, collegial management and a pursuit of academic excellence.
• Must have financial knowledge for budgeting, planning, and implementation;
• Must have a working knowledge of student affairs and student governance; and
• Must have a record of leadership, scholarship, teaching, and service that warrants the rank of professor.
