Job Description Summary

The Department of Social Work at Chicago State University is seeking candidates for a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the Master of Social Work (MSW) program. The position will begin August 15, 2018. Responsibilities include teaching human behavior, social work practice and diversity. Field liaison responsibilities and service are required.

The mission of the MSW Program is to prepare graduate social work students for life-long commitment to: competent, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and family-centered social work practice; leadership and service to urban communities; social, racial and economic justice; and a spirit of inquiry.

Required Education

Candidates must have a doctorate in Social Work or a related field or evidence of such by time of appointment. Two years of post-MSW practice is required. Preference will be given to applicants with teaching experience in a graduate Social Work program. Applicants must demonstrate potential to develop and maintain a focused research agenda.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Candidates must have the skills, knowledge and experience required for trauma-informed practice with individuals, families and small groups living in urban communities.
